Job Description:
Part-time Greenhouse work located in Lake Alfred. Hours are 8:00-12:00 with slight flexibility.
Duties include:
Hand watering and fertilizing citrus trees and seedlings, as well as tobacco plants up to 4 times
weekly depending on the season.
Occasional trimming of small citrus seedlings
Assist with keeping an orderly greenhouse and plant lab work area. This includes washing citrus
pots for reuse, pulling weeds, applying herbicides, and picking up loose leaf litter in the various
greenhouse areas.
Scout for insect pests with appropriate training, and manually remove snowscale and mealy bugs if necessary.
Plant tobacco/sow seed pots weekly; this includes operating a soil sterilizer.
Training will be provided in proper disposal of recombinant CTV and HLB-infected material. This
work will involve some lifting of metal trash cans with plant materials into the plant autoclave.
Must be able to tolerate varied weather conditions including rain, summer and winter temperatures.
Must be willing to work one weekend day, for a maximum of two to three hours. This will either be late Saturday or early Sunday.
Ability to lift up to 50 lb bags of soil, fertilizer and lime.
Experience working with plants preferred
Expected Salary:

$10.00-$13.00 hourly
