Technology Full Time - Fixed Term

Job Description:

The post holder will work with data content specialists from the GWAS Catalog and ontologist to improve the way that human traits, for example, those representing complex diseases, are represented and annotated. The team delivers resources such as the Experimental Factor Ontology and several ontology tools widely used by the community, for example Ontology Lookup Service, and the Ontology Cross Reference Service OxO and the post holder will collaborate within the teams that deliver these resources.

This post is funded by the UPheno project which  standardises and integrates phenotype terminologies (ontologies) across multiple species through the application of standard design patterns  and a common automated ontology build system. We will extend existing ontology design patterns and use them to formally define trait terms used in GWAS annotation.  This will have potential applications in identification of drug targets, variant prioritization in the clinic and hypothesis generation in medical research.
