Job Description:

The Department of Orthopaedics is currently seeking an End User Computing Specialist to be responsible for the day-to-day operation of OSMI laptops, desktops, and peripheral hardware. Configures, installs, monitors and maintains hardware, software, and mobile devices. Provides Tier 1 and 2 support for supported services and works collaboratively with other IT teams as required to identify and resolve service disruptions; provides consultation, and implementation. Provides Tier-2 support for Ortho applications and computing devices related to clinical, educational, and research missions.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • End User Computer Support
    • Provides day-to-day Tier-1&2 hardware and operating system support for end user computing equipment including workstations, laptops printers, scanners, and mobile devices. May also include specialty computing devices which interface with clinical or research equipment.
    • Provides support for office media such as scanners, printers, faxes, etc. including troubleshooting, maintenance of supplies for shared office media (i.e., toner for Xerox) and other support needs as identified by supervisor.
    • Identifies, manage and resolve issues in a timely manner. Responds to customer requests effectively and communicates with them to address issues.
    • Utilize helpdesk software for incident reporting, tracking, and resolution.
    • Utilize SCCM and JAMF for deployment of Software Packages and Patch Management.
    • Provide in-person support to offsite Ortho locations as needed.
  • End User Computer Deployment
    • Installing, imaging, and maintaining operating systems, Microsoft Office, various business & research applications, and VPNs on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices within a diverse academic and research setting. Installation of media devices such as scanners, printers, fax,etc.
    • Utilize SCCM and JAMF for deployment of OS Images and Software Packages.
  • Application Support
    • Provides Tier-1&2 support for unit level applications which support clinical, educational, research, and administrative functions. Support installation, configuration, advanced troubleshooting and vendor collaboration.
    • Installing, imaging, and maintaining operating systems, Microsoft Office, various business & research applications, and VPNs, on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices within a diverse academic and research setting.
  • AV & Scientia
    • Installing, imaging, and maintaining operating systems, Microsoft Office, various business & research applications, and VPNs, on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices within a diverse academic and research setting.
    • Responsible for printing wide format posters that are submitted. Handling communications, billing, logistics with poster submitter. Reconcile invoices with the Business Office. Maintain equipment and stock supplies for wide-format printers.
    • Still and Video Photography as needed. Scanning and editing 35mm slides from Faculty/Staff as needed.
    • Video recording and editing as needed.
    • Set-up and take-down of equipment and furniture for special events hosted at OSMI such as faculty meeting, staff meetings, holiday luncheons, grand rounds and training seminars hosted by the Department or Scientia.
    • Assist with the administrative functions of Scientia (UF Auxiliary) to include but not limited to; client communications, quotes/invoices, and maintaining equipment.
    • Travel with Scientia on an as needed basis for events in and out of town. The goal is to always maintain one person in the office during out-of-town events.
    • Travel to UFHealth regional physician locations will be required.
  • Asset Management
    • Update UF Asset Management system as decaled computing equipment is moved or reassigned to faculty/staff. Work with Business Office to dispose of obsolete equipment. Assist with annual inventory of Capital and Attractive assets.
  • Additional Duties as assigned by Chair, Director, Associate Director or supervisor
Expected Salary:

Starting salary will be $55,00-$60,000, commensurate with qualifications

Minimum Requirements:Associate's degree and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Advanced knowledge of current Windows and/or Mac OS X operating systems in a network environment, demonstrated experience in supporting and troubleshooting complex end-user computing devices, applications, and technology services.
  • Experience with supporting enterprise environments and/or supporting academic and clinical care departments.
  • Working knowledge of common administrative, educational and research applications and services and familiarity with service management industry best practices is strongly preferred.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong customer-centric service orientation and excellent troubleshooting, communication, organizational and collaboration skills. Discretion, sound judgment, confidentiality, initiative, and interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position.
  • Industry recognized certifications in Networking, Hardware or Software support is a plus but not required.
