Job Description:

The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is opening a 40,000 sq foot newly built hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC), a high profile 300-acre equine facility in Ocala, 30 minutes south of Gainesville. The Assistant Manager will play an integral role in the opening of the hospital and is responsible for management of personnel, facilities & equipment as well as working in conjunction with the Practice Manager on budgets and general hospital operations. The critical competencies for this position include analytical skills, relationship building, excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and prioritize. Experience with managing a team, handling and restraining horses, and management of equipment is preferred. This position requires a post-offer health assessment and background check.

Expected Salary:

$40,000 - $55,000; salary based on experience

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experience

Preferred Qualifications:• Knowledge and experience working in a veterinary clinic
• Experience working in an environment that required handling and restraining horses daily
• Understand basic medical terminology
• Experience and successful track record leading and supervising a team
• Experience managing a budget
• Able to create, interpret, and analyze data-driven reports
• Demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other members of the patient care team
• Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude; Able to think independently and demonstrate good problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Bilingual- Spanish/English
