Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Clinical Lead (525859d) vacancy.

Please note this position is also being advertised as a Clinical Nurse Consultant (525859) and only one position will be filled on merit

Salary

$109,108 to $116,218 per annum

Period of Employment

Permanent, full time, day work, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

Duties

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality alcohol and other drug services in accordance with the Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Lead will provide high level support to the Team Leader within the Alcohol and Drug Service in North West in the provision of:

  • Leadership and direction in the strategic development and management of a comprehensive multidisciplinary community alcohol and other drug service.

  • Effective management of specified human and physical resources as directed by the Team Leader.

  • Leadership, direction and change management to facilitate the implementation of Alcohol and Drug Service models of care, reform and review directions and relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Optimal clinical processes and individual client outcomes.

  • Enhanced consumer and carer participation at all levels of the service

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or

  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty

2. Identification check

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years post graduate clinical experience in the context of an alcohol and other drug service.

  • Holds or is working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in alcohol and/or other drugs (AOD) field.

  • Current Driver’s Licence
