Job Description:

The position begins in the Spring 2022 semester with the option to continue working in the following semesters. It entails general library duties related to customer service and the organization and maintenance of circulating materials at the Education Library. This position is specifically for student assistants who are available to work in the mornings and/or afternoons.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons at the service desks and on the phone with basic directional, circulation, and reference questions; checking items in and out, assisting patrons with technology in our computer labs, assisting patrons with printing, recording statistics on patron transactions, shelving books and journals, shelf-reading assigned sections, and other related tasks. Duties may include adapting to changes in services and assisting with other projects and initiatives as assigned.

Library Schedule:

Regular weekly schedules will be set at the beginning of the semester but are subject to change. Work hours could include any hours the building is open, and some additional time after closing and before opening.

For Spring 2022, the Education Library will be open during the following hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8 am — 10 pm

Friday: 8 am — 5 pm

Saturday: 1 pm — 5 pm

Sunday: 2 pm — 10 pm

Expected Salary:

$10.24/hr

Minimum Requirements:
  • Federal Work Study Program required
  • Good communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Works well with the public
  • Capable of working independently
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Must be able to push 50 lbs, lift 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous library experience preferred but not required.
