Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Specialist Medical Practitioner - Psychiatrist (526424) vacancy at the Mental Health Services – South - Peacock Centre.

The Peacock Centre is a part of the ongoing Tasmanian Mental Health Reform Program and this is an exciting opportunity for the right applicant.

Tasmanian also has a lot to offer as a destination to work, live and play, with a natural environment and quality of life unique to a small capital city. In Hobart you are never more than ten minutes away from a beach, National Parks or an award-winning restaurant, with a café culture to match any other Australian city. Whether you see yourself navigating your way around our island, hiking or mountain-biking our world class trails, immersing yourself in our arts scene or just after a different pace of life, there is something in Tasmania for everybody.

If you have a family, there are some excellent local primary and secondary schools, with the University of Tasmania on our doorstep.
