Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

Salary

$64,212 to $69,522 per annum

Period of Employment

Permanent, full-time, day work (fully rotational), working 76 hours per fortnight.

Location

Mental Health Services South - Peacock Centre

Duties

As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency Policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Administrative Officer:

  • Provides quality administrative and reception support to the Peacock Centre, including undertaking special projects under the direction of the Manager.

  • Undertakes leave management, training of staff in new processes, the orientation of new or casual administrative staff and the ongoing support of existing administrative staff.

  • Manages and coordinate administrative support systems for the efficient and effective operation of the Peacock Centre.

  • Undertakes the management of the client data bases and client record systems including filing and retrieval of information.

  • Oversees the ordering, maintaining and processing of accounts, including cost coding functions for stationery items, other office requisites, and petty cash for the Peacock Centre.

  • Undertakes administrative tasks associated with assets, including processing buildings, equipment, and motor vehicles forms.

Essential Requirements

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check
