Job Description:

We are looking for a research scientist to join the Advanced Light Microscopy Core Facility at the EMBL Heidelberg as scientific officer. The work will be primarily centred on the application of spatial transcriptomics technologies to samples derived from human tissue as well as the optimization of protocols for highly multiplexed spatial readouts.

If you have great hands, are thrilled by challenges and would like to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, cutting-edge environment, this would be an opportunity for you. This position is funded by GSK as part of a collaboration between Cellzome, a GSK company, and EMBL.

You will contribute to diverse projects related to spatial transcriptomics involving advanced automated light microscopy methodology and will work across interdisciplinary teams. You will perform hands on experiments, as well as planning for optimizing and establishing experimental methods.

Applicants should have a master in biological sciences, or a Ph.D. Prior experience in light microscopy including sample preparation (e.g. FISH) will be required. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, be highly motivated and very well-organized. Excellent communication skills and the ability to her/his  own work while collaborating within a team are essential.

Experience in automated image data analysis and/or automation of light microscopy methods could be an advantage.
