  • An individual in this position must possess excellent communication skills and be proactive in determining the needs of the hospital. A successful applicant should enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt to a changing environment. They need to possess a good base knowledge of animal handling/husbandry and express a positive attitude in their daily work. The individual must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate critical thinking and professionalism. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
    • Hospital Cleanliness: The focus of hospital cleanliness is to provide an uncompromising level of cleanliness throughout the facilities while creating a safe and accident-free environment. This will ensure the ability to maintain a productive, organized service in preparation to attend to clients and patients as well as preventing infection and cross contamination. The overall aesthetics of the hospital is a direct reflection on the high-quality care we provide so it is important the areas are kept in pristine condition. Areas to maintain include designated department/service treatment rooms and exams rooms along with communal areas when needed.
    • Patient Care & Husbandry: The focus of patient care & husbandry is assisting the service by either directly or indirectly handling patients and providing necessary support. This is essential in providing high quality care to the patients and the success of the service. The expectation is that the individual will communicate effectively with the service to determine the needs and priorities for the day, displaying a positive and proactive attitude while also knowing when to ask for help or guidance when needed. When dealing with patients directly, they should be handled compassionately with the goal to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress during their visit.
    • Administrative Support: The focus of administrative support is to provide accurate and proficient assistance to clients which should be conducted in a courteous and timely manner. Our goal is to ensure that each client experience matches the excellent care offered to their pets. Patient records should be complete and proper information provided to all parties. Individuals must foster positivity, respect, and trust throughout their interactions, demonstrating proactivity in communication and scheduling to help facilitate the needs of the patients and schedule. Clients can include owners, referring veterinarians, other department/service team members, and veterinary students. Delivery methods include orally, written, and in digital platforms.
    • Professional Development & Continuing Education: The focus of professional development & continuing education is to ensure an individual continues to increase and develop their knowledge and skills. To be successful an individual should take an active role such as utilizing downtime in continuing their education, especially in the field of veterinary technology.

This is a full-time, time-limited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

  • Schedule:
    • Monday – Friday / 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    • Expected to be a time-limited position (2-3 months) with potential to extend into a longer term appointment
Expected Salary:

Starting salary is $13.00 per hour.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
    • Physical & Environmental Factors/Abilities:
      • Able to lift patients and equipment up to 40 pounds independently including from floor to table, into or out of a vehicle, or into and out of pool/underwater treadmill
      • Able to bend, kneel, and sit or stand with patients for extend period of time
      • Able to work on patients on floor level for extended periods of time
      • Able to pull, push, and twist for extended periods of time due to restraining animals or moving equipment
    • Mental Factors/Abilities:
      • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
      • Experienced and comfortable with animal handling and husbandry
      • Able to perform basic arithmetic calculations
      • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal/listening skills with patients, staff, and other members of the patient care team
      • Able to demonstrate the ability to navigate basic computer programs and electronic medical records such as Cornerstone, Instinct, and Microsoft Office
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
      • Able to think critically and work independently with minimum supervision
      • Able to demonstrate good problem-solving skills
      • Able to multitask while handling frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
      • Able to work in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of personnel in a positive manner
      • Able to willingly accept constructive criticism from senior staff and clinicians, as well as peers along with providing constructive feedback when appropriate
      • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with clinicians, coworkers, students, and clients
      • Follows appropriate chain of command as outlined by their manager
