Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

Salary

$109,108 to $116,218 pro-rata, per annum

  • Please note that access to the progression point of Year 4Q salary of $116,218 is subject to successful completion of a relevant Master’s Degree as with Clause 10 of the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019

Period of Employment

Duties

The newly established occupational therapy clinical lead roles in surgery, paediatrics, rehab, and medicine offer an exciting opportunity to join our team as clinical leaders.

The Occupational Therapy Service has 80+ team members including occupational therapists and assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers. We provide services across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

The role of the Clinical Lead is to further the client centred, evidenced-based, services provided by occupational therapy services. This includes the support and development of occupational therapy team members across roles.

As a Clinical Lead you require highly developed skills and knowledge in education, research, quality improvement, policy, and clinical practice. Excellence in leadership including supporting change is essential.

The Clinical Leads are members of the occupational therapy leadership group. The work of the Clinical Lead is within their occupational therapy clinical team working collaboratively with their Team Leader, interdisciplinary teams, and the occupational therapy service.

Occupational therapy provides a seven-day service to the Royal Hobart Hospital with a smaller service focused on highest priorities on the weekends. The weekend roster is determined based on therapists’ preferences and shared across all acute therapists.

You will maintain the Occupational Therapy Code of Conduct, Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

Desirable Requirements

  • Postgraduate studies in Occupational Therapy, Public Health, health service leadership or research experience
