What is the Role?

We’re seeking an experienced cost estimator to provide expert cost analysis services for SSE Distributed Energy solar and battery projects where we are focused on growing the business across the UK. You’ll support proposition development from end-to-end working closely with the development, procurement and solutions teams as well as liaising with our supply chain to ensure robust & accurate tender documentation/ estimates are produced.

As Estimator, you’ll:

- Complete take off's from drawings, reading & understanding specifications and associated tender documentation. You’ll collaborate with wholesalers & sub-contractors on additional queries and cost evaluations, managing accurate estimates and bids for design & build (D&B) projects. Your work will form part of a wider bid team, where you’ll take the lead on specific elements.

- Develop & build on existing processes to improve accuracy and reliability of cost models/plans. You’ll work closely with procurement to develop and enhance the existing supply chain for project delivery (EPC’s and main contractor’s) as well as supporting the development of risk registers.

- Work with other members of the development teams to produce and review scope documents which are issued to tenderers, thereafter reviewing tender returns.

- Option appraisals, identifying and applying alternative solutions to enhance bid profitability.

- Maintain records & changes with the objective of delivering supplier coordination to ensure accuracy, best value and competitiveness of estimates and the supply chain critical path.
