Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Perinatal Mental Health Clinician vacancy.

Please note this position is also being advertised as Clinical Nurse Consultant - Perinatal Mental Health and only one position will be filled on merit.

Salary

$94,469 to $111,765 pro-rata, per annum

Please note that access to salaries beyond $105,158 is subject to completion of a relevant Graduate Diploma or application to the personal upgrade scheme in accordance with Schedule 8 of the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time, day work, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

Duties

  • Provide an identified first point of contact with the PMHS team for receipt of enquiries regarding management advice or referral to the team.

  • Review and triage referrals received and prioritise allocation of assessment appointments according to patient need.

  • Coordinate the care of women referred for assessment and treatment in collaboration with the Perinatal Psychiatrist and the PMHS.

  • Provide case management for women with complex mental health and psychosocial problems as part of their antenatal care and/or coordinate discharge planning and follow up for women following the birth of their baby.

  • Provide primary and secondary consultation for women with mental health problems on maternity ward/neonatal intensive care unit.

  • Manage service data collection and ensure data integrity.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or

  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or

  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty

Desirable Requirements

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
