Job Description:

In this role you will develop and manage the Ensembl Metazoa resource including our collaboration with VEuPathDB.

As part of the Ensembl project, Ensembl Metazoa provides access to annotated genomes, genetic variation data and comparative genomics views to support research activities for a wide range of insect and non-vertebrate metazoan species, including vectors of human disease, agronomically important pests, aquatic species and model organisms. The Ensembl project is a collaborative effort with several teams working together to develop datasets and tools which support genomics-based research across the taxonomic space. As part of the VEuPathDB project we work closely with US and UK partners to deliver bioinformatics resources to support research into eukaryotic pathogens, vectors and hosts.

Your role will be varied, and will involve: You will also work closely with other Ensembl teams, contribute to preparation of reports for funding agencies, and to applications for additional funding. This post would suit an experienced bioinformatician, ideally one with established connections to the insect research community, with an interest in, and ideas for, developing services that facilitate genomic-driven research. If you join us, you will find a supportive and diverse environment, outstanding local expertise and a robust infrastructure forming the basis of services whose development you will oversee.

If this sounds like you, then we look forward to receiving your application.
