About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced postdoctoral scientist in atmospheric modelling to contribute to a new high-resolution coupled modelling system, focusing on atmospheric convection and weather-climate interactions. Funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century, this role offers networking opportunities and involvement in cutting-edge climate research.
Your responsibilities will include:
Significantly contribute towards the research effort of the Centre’s Modelling Science Team and develop research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
Conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
Contribute to training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students.
Actively participate at Centre and School meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work within the Centre, School and discipline.
Who We Are Looking ForYou will ideally have a strong aptitude for independent research with a solid publication record and the ability to prepare reports. Additionally, you should demonstrate a desire to build an academic career, excel in communication and collaboration, and possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines efficiently.
You will also have:
Completed a PhD in atmospheric science or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in atmospheric modelling, including model experimentation.
Demonstrated experience with high-performance computing, including working on large codes in a version controlled environment.
A demonstrated aptitude for independent research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.
