The hospital:
Smithton District Hospital (SDH) is small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton Tasmania. It services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8000 people.
The Hospital has 12 subacute beds accommodating general medicine, post-acute, palliative and end of life care. We have a 3 bay Emergency First Response unit staffed by nurses and General Practitioners (Rural Medical Practitioners) who are contracted to provide on call medical services. No surgery is performed at this hospital.
SDH offer outpatient services including low risk chemotherapy and supportive treatments for cancer patients, blood products and iron transfusions for acute and chronic conditions.
SDH also provides twice weekly midwifery (antenatal) clinics.
The role:
The Enrolled Nurse provides direct patient/client centred nursing care to assigned patients/clients, within the scope of practice of an enrolled nurse and under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse/midwife to achieve planned patient outcomes.

Fixed term, casual, shift-worker position working as and when required, commencing as soon as you are able to join the team for a period of 12 months

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $68,913 to $75,902 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines)
Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

Clinical Ast/Aso/Full Professor - Pediatric Pathologist
Job Description:
Primary responsibilities will involve service and clinical teaching in pediatric pathology with an emphasis on autopsy and congenital heart disease, as well as potential other areas of anatomic pathology. Expertise in placental pathology is preferable. The position can be tailored based on subspecialty interests.
Expected Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants should have an MD or equivalent and be board certified in AP or AP/CP and be eligible for a Florida Medical License. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed formal training in an ACGME accredited Pediatric Pathology Fellowship program and are either Board Certified or eligible for subspecialty certification in Pediatric Pathology.
Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate should also have a track record of publications and clinical research activity is desirable. Previous practice experience is preferred, but not required. All applicants will be considered.

Biological Scientist II
Job Description:
Serve as the lead operational scientist directly under the manager of the UFDI Study Bank, overseeing junior technicians and undergraduate students in the daily activities listed herein.
Receive human blood specimens from local and external clinics, perform tissue component processing on these samples such as DNA extraction, serum isolation, and plasma isolation. Subsequently log these collected materials in a database and store all components for future use.
Perform cell separations by either magnetic or FACS sorting methods, then prepare cells for nucleic acid isolation and future sequencing experiments.
Isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from human blood specimens. Subsequent tissue culturing or cryopreservation for future use.
Entry, input, QC, and maintenance of several established HIPAA and IRB compliant databases of human samples and their experimental results. Interface directly with UFDI data management to ensure industry and academic compliance with current data principles.
Act as the storage, dissemination, and shipment operations manager of the UFDI Study Bank.
Oversee inventory maintenance and ordering of reagents, supplies, and necessary materials for human sample processing protocols.
Perform other experimental procedures on collected samples such as, flow cytometry, Genotyping, PCR, western blot, Elisa, Luminex, tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, and FACS.
Additional duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager and the Principal Investigator.
Expected Salary:
Starting salary is between $45,000 - $52,000
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field and three years of experience or Master's degree in biology or a related field with one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Meticulous attention to data entry details.•Ability to prioritize duties and organize time.•Ability to work with an extensive array of computer programs.•Good team and interpersonal skills to interact with investigators and lab personnel.•Flow cytometry and tissue culture experience preferred.•Experience with equipment connected computing hardware and software for data analysis preferred.•5-plus years in Type 1 Diabetes research and biobanking.
